Dedication ceremony at the Self designed, Luke Farmer Way in Upton

Self Architects' development of 22 affordable houses and bungalows has just been completed for Wakefield District Housing at a site on Field Lane in Upton.

A dedication ceremony took place on 29th June to name the development in honour of rifleman Luke Farmer of A-Company, 3-Rifles, killed by an explosive device in Afghanistan in 2010 at the age of just nineteen.

Luke grew up in the area and played on the public open space adjacent to the site as a child, so it is a welcome and fitting tribute for the development to carry his name. 

His regiment, family, friends and members of the local council and community were in attendance alongside representatives from the development team: WDH, Self Architects and the contractor; Mears New Homes.
