Olumis Ecohotel

Indonesia

Completed: January, 1970

Services: Architecture, Interior Design

Sector: Leisure

Client: Olumis

Size: 20 Bedrooms & a Bar/Restaurant

Self designed this prototype micro hotel to be the first for the amazing landscape of Indonesia. The design is grounded in indigenous ecological construction, utilising wood construction, natural ventilation and wide roofs for shadowing.

The hotel consists of a central building of the bar and restaurant, with an atrium above opening onto 12 rooms at 1st floor. The bar/restaurant faces onto the pool and is flanked by single storey bedroom wings. All the bedrooms have generous verandas, with all the space able to be opened up to allow inside space to be part of the outside. The hotel also provides a manager’s apartment, a kitchen and laundry.
