Sprotbrough Road

Completed: January, 1970

Service: Architecture

Sector: Residential

Client: Prorun Ltd

Size: 51 apartments

Prorun Limited acquired this interesting corner site between the old York Road and Sprotbrough Road in Doncaster for a residential development. Self designed a scheme for 51 apartments in 3 blocks.

Building Design

The buildings have single skin, single pitch metal roofs with panelling at the upper levels; brickwork to the middle sections and fairfaced blockwork plinth storey to the bottom. These are broken up with panels of white render, making an interesting composition above the arches to York Road. The single pitch roof has allowed the upper apartments to be two-storey with the main bedroom and en-suite at the top. A landmark building was also designed for the corner of this prominent site.
